 What is the initiative about? (the solution)
The global dissemination of the collection of the IDN Library.

Actors and Stakeholders

 Who proposed the solution, who implemented it and who were the stakeholders?
The solution was proposed by the librarian and implemented by the library service, IDN Computer Department, Defense Database Centre of the Ministry of Defense and the suplly Company of the bibliographic software. Stakeholders: internal (IDN Direction and the Staff) and external (students of doctoral, master, postgraduation, graduation programmes and all military/civilians users interested on the areas of security, defense, international relations, strategie and political science.

 a.      What were the strategies used to implement the initiative? In no more than 500 words, provide a summary of the main objectives and strategies of the initiative, how they were established and by whom.
Main objective: the global dissemination of the collection of the IDN Library. Strategie: the librarian presents the project to the IDN Direction and subscribed it the Simplex Programme, as well as make some coaching in order to assemble the conditions to implement the project.

(b) Implementation

 b.      What were the key development and implementation steps and the chronology? No more than 500 words
It was a slow procedure but the implementation occurred in about one month.

(c) Overcoming Obstacles

 c.      What were the main obstacles encountered? How were they overcome? No more than 500 words
The lack of will was overcome when one of the last deputies recognized the great utility on having the Bibliographic Catalogue available on the Internet.

(d) Use of Resources

 d.      What resources were used for the initiative and what were its key benefits? In no more than 500 words, specify what were the financial, technical and human resources’ costs associated with this initiative. Describe how resources were mobilized
It envolved technical questions solved by the latest version of the bibliographic software and the availability of servers in the Defense Database Centre of the Ministry of Defense.

Yes

Lessons Learned

 What are the impact of your initiative and the lessons learned?
The possibility, from anywhere, to know/ search all the documental collection of the IDN Library. When they met wills we can overcome difficulties.
In the future new apllications should be developed in order to add new features and innovations to meet the information needs of users.
