Local Authorities’ main goals are to approach their citizens and to become able to serve them faster, easier, instantly and remotely. In order these
goals to be achieved, all City Council’s decisions dated from 1991 till now have been uploaded on the Municipality’s web portal. That initiative was
established by the Municipality’s I.T Department and the City Council’s secretariat office.

That initiative started eight years ago using the first
version of the Municipality’s web portal which was
upgraded two years ago in a newer and more sophisticated version.

No serious obstacles have been encountered during this
effort. Contrariwise all the Municipality’s personnel have supported the initiative appreciating its importance and usefulness.

The City Council’s decisions are uploaded on the web
portal in a regular basis by the City Council’s secretary. The Municipality’s I.T Department is responsible for the application’s maintenance.

Lessons Learned

 What are the impact of your initiative and the lessons learned?
The web portal is updated in a daily basis by the Municipality’s departments. The local community is immediately informed about the City’s Council decisions. This fact improves the Local Authority’s reliability and transparency. The conclusion extracted from this experience is that the provided online web
services have improved the citizens’ service and have
helped the Local Authority to become more transparent and fair towards the citizens.
