A. Problem Analysis

 1. What was the problem before the implementation of the initiative?
The increase danger of Crime & Violence within the Youth committee which was affecting the kingdom of Bahrain.

B. Strategic Approach

 2. What was the solution?
The adaptation of the D.A.R.E program from the United States in which we later tailored to fit the culture needs and later train our local workforce of police officers to teach into the schools and work with the Ministry of Education incorporating the program into the youths education curriculum.

 3. How did the initiative solve the problem and improve people’s lives?
The program worked by getting the police officers stationed into the schools that they are assigned too and be part of the day to day live of the student in helping them by educating them and also guiding them in the right path.

C. Execution and Implementation

 4. In which ways is the initiative creative and innovative?
The program, is a life skills program that teaches students to go through the steps of making decisions. The steps are: 1.Define-what is the problem or choice? 2. Assess-what are my choices and the consequences? 3. Respond-make a decision, and 4. Evaluate-would I make the same choice, should I be faced with that decision again?

 5. Who implemented the initiative and what is the size of the population affected by this initiative?
The Ministry of Interior took the initiative to introduce this program due to it’s social commitment to the community in providing a safe environment for our youth. So far the program is implemented in over 100 schools and covers 65,000 students of all ages.
 6. How was the strategy implemented and what resources were mobilized?
: The project is funded the Ministry of Interior with the use of the police officers manpower to execute the implementation of the program to the students, and is an active daily program and monitored very closely by the Ministry daily.

 7. Who were the stakeholders involved in the design of the initiative and in its implementation?
The program is shared by the Ministry of Interior & Ministry of Education , the main role of the ministry of education is to make sure that the curriculum is implemented in the schools and is taught to the students.

 8. What were the most successful outputs and why was the initiative effective?
The success of the program is well noticed by the community by the behavior of the youth and the drop in crime and violence that was noticed in the past by them, also the feedback which we got from the schools after the implementation of the program into the daily lives of the students.

 9. What were the main obstacles encountered and how were they overcome?
Having a police officer allocated in the school and teaching the youth as they are not seen as educators, but the community and schools accepted they and were very impressed by the high level of performance they were able to perform.

D. Impact and Sustainability

 10. What were the key benefits resulting from this initiative?
Is to teach students the dangers of drugs and violence and provide them with the skills to not "just say no" but "how to say no!" The individual lessons focused on topics such as positive self-esteem, consequences, peer pressure, refusal skills and modeled a decision-making guide. The formats in which the lessons are presented include group activities, role-playing and workbooks.

 11. Did the initiative improve integrity and/or accountability in public service? (If applicable)
: Yes, with great results as the schools have noticed a big difference in youth behavior since the police officer started being in schools and teaching the program.

 12. Were special measures put in place to ensure that the initiative benefits women and girls and improves the situation of the poorest and most vulnerable? (If applicable)
The program covers all genders ( Male & Female students and the parents ).
