Capacity Building Workshop on “Adopting new approaches to e-government for SDG implementation”

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, in collaboration with the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation which includes Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Türkiye, is organizing a capacity building workshop on adopting new approaches to e-government for SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) implementation. The Workshop is designed to build the capacity of relevant officials, who are responsible for shaping the digital transformation policy, for answering to the ever-growing challenges they face in implementing their respective digital transformation agendas. The Workshop will also serve as a continuation of the online Workshop conducted in March 2022, particularly to address the challenges presented during that Workshop. The Workshop is also aimed at enhancing the capacity of public officials in digital government skills, strengthening collaboration between government agencies, and promoting of production of indigenous ICT access for public officials and the educational sector.
The Workshop will be comprised of six sessions, each of which will be facilitated by competent resource persons and experts from relevant agencies.
The Organization of the Workshop
Date and Time
The UNDESA and the D-8 Organization will organize the Workshop in a face-to-face setting in Istanbul on 17-18 November 2022. The Workshop will be comprised of six sessions, each of which will be facilitated by competent resource persons and experts from relevant agencies. The proposed agenda and program of work for the Workshop is as enclosed.
Target Audience
The target audience of the Workshop is relevant ministries or authorities from the D-8 Member States responsible for the policy and decision-making on e-governance and digital transformation. As such, the D-8 Member States are expected to nominate two participants, preferably one at the senior management level and another from the mid-management level.
Expected Outcome
Participants are expected to actively contribute to the discussion to create a common understanding of the challenges faced by the Member States in their respective transition toward e-governance and digital public services and identify solutions and responses to those potentially arising challenges.
The Workshop aims to provide recommendations that cater to and respond to generic or specific needs from each D-8 Member State to accelerate and strengthen their digital transformation efforts.
Language
The working language of the Workshop will be English, and no interpretation services will be provided.
