The 2017 United Nations Public Service Forum entitled “The Future is Now: Accelerating Public Service Innovation for Agenda 2030” will take place in the Hague, Netherlands, from 22 to 23 June 2017. It is being organized by the Government of the Netherlands together with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs in honor of United Nations Public Service Day. This international day celebrates public servants’ contribution to sustainable development.
As countries implement the transformative 2030 Agenda for sustainable development, the Forum will provide a platform for decision-makers to share strategies that have worked, innovative approaches and lessons learned on how to rally public service to realize the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will engage in discussions and brainstormings in working groups and learn from initiatives of various countries and the host government. An international innovation market will be held at the margins of the Forum. Innovators will share their ideas and actions for possible adaptation. Government officials, experts, as well as private sector and civil society representatives from around the world will have the occasion to learn from each other, network and identify future trends and actions. New twinning arrangements will be launched to continue progress.
