Providing knowledge of the most significant ICT standards emerging for legislation, judiciary, parliamentary and administrative documents”; this is the main goal of the 2012 edition of the Legislative XML Summer School LEX12, to be held in Ravenna, Italy, from 10 to 15 September.

This Summer School, organised by the University of Bologna with the support of OASIS, is designed primarily for officers of legislative bodies and other normative authorities (at international, national, regional and local level), but it can be attended also by drafters of normative texts in the private sector, editors, publishers, documentalists dealing with legal sources, experts in the electronic management of legal texts, students and researchers working in legal informatics and legislation studies.

Relevant stakeholders in the legal domain will thus have the opportunity to appreciate the positive impact of legal XML standards, like Akoma Ntoso, as well as of tools based on such standards, in the legislative and administrative processes.

The Summer School will be followed by a two-day workshop focused on Akoma Notso, “Akoma Ntoso Tool Development Workshop”. This workshop will focus on customization and extension of the Bungeni Editor framework.  Specific document use cases will be used for customization and extension for the production of Akoma Ntoso. Additionally, there will also be a session on building applications using the Bungeni XQ Framework, a MVC XQuery framework which is being used to build the Bungeni XML Repository for Akoma Ntoso documents.

We encourage interested applicants to submit their candidatures before 17 August 2012.
