World e-Parliament Report

The World e-Parliament Report is prepared by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament, a partnership initiative of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) and the Inter-Parliamentary Union, which was founded in 2006, inspired by the outcome of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS).

The World e-Parliament Report 2012 offers an unprecedented comparative investigation of the major trends, practices and experiences in the use of information and communication technology in the parliamentary environment. The 2012 edition also describes innovations and trends that have emerged since the previous report, such as tablet devices and open data.

The World Parliament Report 2010, the second edition in the series, is based on data from more than 130 parliaments worldwide and offers parliaments a useful instrument to assess the progress made by legislatures in the two years since the initial report and to draw lessons from different practices and experiences. It is included in both French and English.

The 2009 report on the World E-Parliament Conference, which was held in Washington, DC, is included in both French and English.

The World e-Parliament Report 2008 constitutes the first assessment from a global perspective of how information and communications technologies (ICT) are being employed by parliaments. It is based on the responses and comments provided by 105 assemblies worldwide on the use of ICT in parliament, as well as drawing on experiences exchanged during the World e-Parliament Conference 2007.
