Initiative: Coatzabierto – Integral strategy of open government and intelligent city

Institution: Municipio de Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz

Problem: The Coatzabierto Municipality provided most of its public services offline, meaning citizens experienced long processing and operating times, having to travel to respective offices to carry out and access basic services.

Solution: The municipality has modernized its ICT infrastructure, providing a comprehensive citizen platform laying the foundation for the development and transformation towards a smart and sustainable city, developed to put technology at the service of the citizen. Through downloadable apps, citizens can access public services and information 365 days of the year 24 hours a day.

Impact: The Coatzabierto project generates an estimated reduction of 40 per cent in processing times for both the citizen and the government.
