Please describe the objective of the initiative introduced (200 words maximum)
Noor Dubai is one of Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global initiatives, focusing Its activities on eliminating the causes of blindness and visual impairment that can be treated and prevented. More than 27 million people globally benefited from its Services and programmes, which include Surgical and medical treatment, distribution of visual aid, prevention programs to control and eliminate blinding diseases such as Neglected Tropical Diseases, and training of community members and health providers. As a member of the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness, Noor Dubai continues to pursue the goals of the World Health Organization (WHO) in a world free of blinding and visual impairment. Strategic Objectives are: - Prevention of blinding diseases - Treatment of reversible forms of blindness - Education of the public and training of health providers

1- Innovation through Telemedicine provides an electronic platform to link community based health centers with tertiary care facilities for screening and early detection of diabetic eye disease. Facilitating accessibility and early prevention. Beneficiaries: 6540 patient 2-Mobile eye clinic provided to vulnerable groups: (elderly, students, public workers). Beneficiaries 17,000 individual 3-Medical Camps conducted to provide screening, treatment in underdeveloped cities. Beneficiaries: screened 263,438 individuals, surgeries 62,600, distribution of eye glasses 26,034 4- Elimination of blinding trachoma in Amhara, Ethiopia. 65 million doses of Zithromax distributed. 325,000 surgeries performed, 250,000 latrines built. 3,459 villages educated, 14,428 local teachers and community workers trained

3.3 Distribution of 70.4 million Medication. Surgeries covering 60% of target 3.8 25,954 surgeries increasing cataract surgical coverage. 60,111 eyeglasses distributed. 3b conducted blindness survey Nigeria. 3c trained 462 surgeons 4.9 School eyehealth program Nigeria, screen 320,000 pupils 4b scholarship to 18 health providers in Nigeria 6.2 constructed 250,000 latrines. achieving 69% of latrine ownership 6b over 3,459 villages educated on environmental sanitation 14,428 community workers trained. Result: 91% utilization of sanitary facilities. 10.8 Mental health program reduced discrimination against visually impaired students including 5064 student in 11 schools 10.a Selection of programs based on WHO/IAPB report for developing countries

National program funded eyecare for noninsured or low-income residents. Reducing visual impairment from delayed Treatment or lack of coverage in basic insurance package Awareness conducted via a popular weekly Radio show to promote outreach and funding as well as identification of patients. Beneficiaries 232 with cost of 1.6million AED School Health program to screen students for visual impairment, 5064 students were screened in 11 community low income schools in 2017. School Mental health program conducted to measure and reduce mental and social discrimination against the blind, 5000 student included across 6 schools. Screening program for 355 elderly living in remote areas or nursing homes, providing screening and referrals of cases to hospitals. International Cataract camps targets age related Cataract nearly 263,438 elderly screened and 26600 operated, 62,000 received treatment. Members in the eye health coalition to support Rohingya refugees by providing screening 50,000 patients and operating 500 in 2018. Program will continue till 2020.

Telemedicine in screening Diabetic eye disease across Dubai, creating a unified, smart platform to connect community based health centers with tertiary eye centers. Reducing waiting time by increasing accessibility to the service and promoting screening and early detection. Covering 6540 patients, reducing rate of referrals to 7.4% of total number of patients. Achieving 100% patient satisfaction. Reducing waiting time for consultation from 6 months to 10 minutes. Following this success, the program has been adopted in the private sector.

Telehealth for screening diabetic eye disease was the first network of its kind in the country connecting 13 community centers with 1 hospital. Providing a great opportunity for accessibility and extending the service to remote areas in the Emirate. Through this innovation, the program received the 4th UAE Innovative Ideas Award. The program was also showcased in GITEX an international tradeshow showcasing advanced technology and innovation.

- Improving performance through KPI enhancing initiatives by proper selection of Camp location for 2019/2020, concentration of providing health services to refugees and displaced persons in Rohingya Crises - Monitoring Gender balance within existing programs among the beneficiaries by analyzing data from existing programs and designing gender inclusive targets - Following the success of the national mobile eye clinic, ongoing collaboration to establish 4 more units to serve a larger scope in the local community Partnership with local entities for a national eye survey to estimate the prevalence of and causes of blindness to better design treatment and rehabilitation services
