Questions/Answers

Question 1

Please describe the objective of the initiative introduced (200 words maximum)
Dubai Central laboratory department of Dubai Municipality decided to find solution over paint defects during climate changes by avoiding more polluted paints and at the same time the paints shall be weather, dirt proof also safe to public and environment. Dubai climate most of the year sunny causing severe UV radiation on buildings increasing heat island effect and sometime sand storm spreading dust to the walls. The residential buildings coated with paints during climate changes facing many problems like dirt Pickup, Poor Color Retention, Wrinkling, fungal and mould attack. The application of nanotechnology applied to the model house built and the paint properties analyzed by technical team in order to protect the walls of building and office due to drastic climate change of Dubai city and save routine maintenance cost of public about 22% , historical assets lifespan, reducing 10% carbon emission by using biomass ensured binder and recyclable packaging materials instead of fossil fuels and sustainable to environment. Cool pigments technology present in the nano paints protect total solar energy attack on walls by reflecting solar energy and reduce temperature inside of buildings and make comfort living conditions to public.

Question 2

Please explain how the initiative is linked to the category and criteria selected (100 words maximum)
The initiative mainly focussed on public service and needs.Dubai Municplaity Vision Developing a happy and sustainable city.Dubai municiplaity and Mission Plan, develop and manage an excellent city that provides the essence of success and sustainable living. This intiative benefits definitely links with category and criteria selected.
