This side event shall reflect on UNESCO’s future action in the implementation and facilitation of its six WSIS Action Lines, towards 2030, in partnership with all stakeholders.
Based on UNESCO’s mandate and its WSIS role, the event will spell out information and knowledge societies challenges, and will review how, in the framework of WSIS, the 2030 and Addis Ababa financing for development agendas, including the Technology Facilitation Mechanism and the adoption of the UNESCO CONNECTing the dots outcome document, a new era of implementation and partnership building can be launched.
Based on the discussions held, a short document will be published in early 2016 building on the discussions and consultations held, which shall address key challenges and lay the foundations for future work of the overall WSIS.
The session shall be chaired by UNESCO Deputy Director-General and Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information, Mr Getachew Engida.
