Three side-events will take during the 2nd Informal Interactive Stakeholder Consultation and 2nd Preparatory Meeting
As indicated in the Roadmap of the preparatory process, the President of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly will organize the second informal interactive consultation on 19 October 2015 with all relevant stakeholders of the World Summit on the Information Society, to collect their inputs on the zero draft. This precedes the second preparatory meeting by Member States that will take place on 20-22 October 2015. The consultation will provide all relevant WSIS stakeholders an opportunity to contribute their views on the zero draft in a day of interactive panel discussions with representatives from various multi-stakeholders.
The Second Preparatory Meeting of the WSIS review process will take place from Tuesday to Thursday, 20-22 October in ECOSOC Council at the United Nations Secretariat, New York. The focus of the Second Preparatory Meeting will accordingly be very much on engaging Member and Observer States as well as Observers to reach consensus on critical issues. Statements delivered at the meeting and written submissions will serve as the basis for the second draft version of the WSIS review outcome document that will be further developed, leading up to the High-Level Meeting on 15-16 December 2015. Given that the review concludes in only two months at the High-Level meeting, the Second Preparatory Meeting is structured to maximize interaction among Member and Observer States as well as Observers and focus attention on compromise.
Comments on the zero-draft are now invited from member states and observer states and all relevant stakeholders. Please click here to download the submission form and email it to email@example.com by COB October 15.

In a recent Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Coordination and Management meeting, held on 22 July, the Council discussed and adopted a resolution on the World Summit on Information Society based on the work and outcome report of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development (CSTD). The Commission’s Report E/2015/31 contained in its first chapter the resolution on the assessment of progress made in implementation of WSIS outcomes, recalling the overall review currently being undertaken by the General Assembly, highlighting the contribution of CSTD and other to the process.
We would like to remind all stakeholders that the deadline for written submissions for the "non-paper" on the desired structure and content of the UN General Assembly's WSIS+10 overall review outcome document is 31 July. In that regard, Co-facilitators, Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks, Permanent Representative of Latvia, and Ambassador Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates, reached out to all permanent Member and Observer States to encourage submissions before the deadline. Please click here to see their recent letter. Guiding questions and a description of the submission process are available by following this link. We strongly encourage all stakeholders to contribute. Following the release of the non-paper, all stakeholders will again be invited to submit comments electronically through the second week of September.
